As I begin releasing my rankings for the first time, I don’t expect to have everything finalized before Day 1 kicks off tonight. Still, I’m excited to finally have a platform where I can track my evaluations year over year—this is just the beginning of something I plan to build on annually.
I wasn’t able to fully evaluate every prospect, so if you don’t see a name listed, it simply means I didn’t have enough film to give a fair assessment.
With that being said, here are my second set of official QB rankings—one position I was able to complete last year and revisit again this cycle.
Fernando Mendoza, Indiana
Mendoza is the clear cut QB1 in this class. After transferring from Cal, Mendoza lit it up this year and lead Indiana to a National Championship. He showed a knack for big plays in crunch time, accuracy, poise and leadership.
Ty Simpson, Alabama
It sounds like Simpson may have dealt with some injuries throughout the season, which could be why his play dipped off towards the middle to end of the season. He also had lack of support in the run game. With 5 star pedigree, he also has good movement in the pocket, throws with good anticipation and does a good job going through his progressions.
Drew Allar, Penn St
Had he declared last season, Allar could have very well been the first QB off the board and would have been at worst QB2 in my opinion. He dealt with injuries this year and his stock has slid but he still has a cannon for an arm and all the tools, the injury has made him a forgotten man though.
Carson Beck, Miami
All this kid does is win. A few years ago, he was looked at as a future top 5 pick and he has done nothing but win since. He has a big arm and I think he could be a steal in the middle rounds.
Luke Altmyer, Illinois
I think Altmyer could be a late round steal a la Brock Purdy. I'm not saying he is Purdy but he demonstrates a lot of the same qualities. Anticipation, accuracy, experience and leadership. One of my favorite QBs in the class and will stick around the league as a backup for a long time, at least.
Diego Pavia, Vanderbilt
Kid is a GAMER! He might not be the best practice player or have the flashy tools but when the lights turn on, this kid shows up. Could be a fun backup option!
Garrett Nussmeier, LSU
His 2024 tape was a lot better, it looked like he lost some arm strength this past year but maybe this was injury related?
Taylen Green, Arkansas
The combine darling has ELITE game changing speed and is built like your favorite video game QB. I don't think his arm pops or has as a ton of zip but he's exactly the toolsy QB that coaches will want to get their hands on.
Cade Klubnik, Clemson
Once the top rated recruit in the nation, he never really lived up to the hype. I am fan of his and he has a nice quick release but he lacks in the arm strength department in my opinion.
